Minor studying in tribal school raped by badminton coach in Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR: A teenager was raped by her badminton coach in Kastoorba Balika Aashram of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh. National Student Union of India (NSUI) members announced closure of Bijapur markets demanding strict action against the accused who was arrested by the police on Sunday. NSUI also demanded action against the concerned authorities who, going against the norms, have employed a male coach in residential girl’s school.
Talking to TOI, SP Bijapur, KL Dhruv informed that the police have learnt about a class VIII student of Kastoorba Balika Aashram went missing. Though no one from the school authorities contacted us about the missing students, police, in its own initiative traced the girl through phone surveillance and contacted the girl.
“The girl shared her ordeal with the police after several attempts. She informed that her badminton coach raped her by calling her at his house on January 29. She found herself lying naked in the bedroom of her coach as she was seduced with some sedatives by the coach,” added SP.
The cop further informed that a police case has been lodged against the accused, Daan Vaidya Dinkar under section 376 (rape) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
